Recruitment and selection of a General Manager
Dr. Heimeier & Partner placed an advertisement in the Frankfurter Allgemeine Zeitung (a national German newspaper) for a "General Manager for a medium-sized power-engineering company with an annual turnover of EUR 15 million". The requirement profile was clear and precise, applications were requested in English.
One of the applicants was Mr. X, who was attracted by the following points: 1. the international nature of the job due to the affiliation of the company to a medium-sized British group, 2. the general nature of overall responsibility as General Manager 3. working in the field of general mechanical engineering. He was aware right from the beginning that the company was going through a reconstruction phase - something which the candidate saw as a challenge.
A few months later, Mr. X began restructuring the company. He started by replacing several of the management staff in key positions - he entrusted Dr. Heimeier & Partner with the recruitment and selection of candidates for these positions. Within a year, the company was already making profit. The partners decided to purchase another company and integrate it into the Group. Mr. X was also entrusted with the management of the holding.
